Universal loopholes and Lighted Mechanical Lupines

Good Morning Guys and Dolls!!
Its has of course been an inexcusable long time since our last installment so let us not waste any time and dive directly into the chaos that is our wonderful world.

Remote-controlled pill
Pharmacists use various mechanisms to control the release of drugs from a pill. For example, the pill may have a coating that is designed to be dissolved in a particular part of the digestive tract or after a certain amount of time.
But this does not always work since the rate of passage through the body can vary, and some individuals have higher levels of digestive enzymes than others. So the electronics company Philips has come up with a remote-controlled pill with a cavity for carrying a drug which can be opened by a remote signal......(read more)

Hmm....is that a candy Orwellian coating?

Sound Byte from Saturn captured by Cassini literally made my room sound like a krell laboratory. I half expect to find Robby the robot living happy and well on the surface of Titan.

Staying with the space and time theme a second I ran across this one....Surfer dude stuns physicists with theory of everything

An impoverished surfer has drawn up a new theory of the universe, seen by some as the Holy Grail of physics, which has received rave reviews from scientists.
Garrett Lisi, 39, has a doctorate but no university affiliation and spends most of the year surfing in Hawaii, where he has also been a hiking guide and bridge builder (when he slept in a jungle yurt).
In winter, he heads to the mountains near Lake Tahoe, Nevada, where he snowboards. "Being poor sucks," Lisi says. "It's hard to figure out the secrets of the universe when you're trying to figure out where you and your girlfriend are going to sleep next month."

Despite this unusual career path, his proposal is remarkable because, by the arcane standards of particle physics, it does not require highly complex mathematics.

Even better, it does not require more than one dimension of time and three of space, when some rival theories need ten or even more spatial dimensions and other bizarre concepts. And it may even be possible to test his theory, which predicts a host of new particles, perhaps even using the new Large Hadron Collider atom smasher that will go into action near Geneva next year......(read more)

Of course I will reserve comment until a particle is found. There are more and more models of the universe I have seen. some are nice like surfer dudes......some are scary.

More, heavier vehicles take toll on U.S. roads
WASHINGTON - Just like Americans themselves, the nation’s roads and bridges are carrying much more weight today.
Added to an aging and deteriorating highway system, that means more safety problems, delays and repair costs for drivers, experts said.
In just a decade, from 1995 to 2005, the weight load on urban highways increased by half. Since 1970, the weight carried on rural highways has gone up nearly 7½ times, according to Federal Highway Administration statistics.............(read more)

"just like Americans themselves........."..........Christ!.......so I am supposed to think that fat asses and suvs contributed to this collapse?..........on this note I have noticed just in my area in MD that just about every bridge and overpass all of a sudden has men working on it.......strange you say?......na.........just every city and county official from here to Anchorage doesnt want his or her name on the next collapsed bridge......makes me feel safe and fuzzy while i sit in traffic.

Beheaded rattlesnake sends man to hospital
PROSSER, Wash. - Turns out, even beheaded rattlesnakes can be dangerous.
That’s what 53-year-old Danny Anderson learned as he was feeding his horses Monday night, when a 5-foot rattler slithered onto his central Washington property, about 50 miles southeast of Yakima.
Anderson and his 27-year-old son, Benjamin, pinned the snake with an irrigation pipe and cut off its head with a shovel. A few more strikes to the head left it sitting under a pickup truck.
“When I reached down to pick up the head, it raised around and did a back flip almost, and bit my finger,” Anderson said. “I had to shake my hand real hard to get it to let loose.”.........(read more)

.........read that again and insert the voice of Hank from "king of the hill"............and how about you and your boy could have just left the snake alone......I'm sure it wasn't after you......poor thing was probably lost.....too bad it found you.

Mother jailed for girl's murder
Sharon Wright, 23, and 22-year-old Peter McKenzie-Seaton were both given life terms for killing Leticia Wright and each will serve at least 23 years.
Leticia had 100 separate injuries when she died and the judge at Bradford Crown Court said she had suffered "deliberate and grotesque cruelty".
She was found dying in her Almondbury Bank home in November last year. ......(read more)

every day I read something like this.....when do you think we will learn enough about violence to stop it?......looking at that little girl's beautiful innocent face makes me want it to be tomorrow.

City Horse-Drawn Produce Vendor Stable Condemned
One of the city's few remaining stables for horses that pull Arabber wagons was condemned by city officials, who told the produce vendors they must vacate the building by Thursday afternoon.

Hamas said it had gained control of much of southern Gaza after pushing Fatah gunmen out of the north.

The fighting has spilled over into the West Bank with a gun battle breaking out in the northern town of Nablus.

'Madness'

Armed members from the factions have been battling in Gaza for several days for control of key security posts.

Rivals: Fatah and Hamas

At least 17 people were reported killed in fighting on Wednesday with 80 reported to have died since Saturday.

Hamas appears to be winning this bitter battle for all-out control of Gaza, our correspondent says.

Clashes have been going on since Saturday when hundreds of Fatah and Hamas gunmen fought on the streets and rooftops of Rafah with rocket-propelled grenades and machine guns.

At least 200 gunmen of the Fatah-allied Bakr clan surrendered to Hamas in Gaza City, clan elders and witnesses said

The Fatah men promised "blood for blood" in the West Bank if the Hamas attacks in Gaza did not stop.

Hamas has issued its own ultimatum to Fatah militants in Gaza to lay down their weapons by 1600 GMT on Friday or risk having them taken from them.

A senior UN co-ordinator for the Middle East said the situation in Gaza was one of the gravest crises the Palestinian people had faced.
Two workers from the UN relief agency were also among those who died on Wednesday.

The UN said it would temporarily scale back its operations in Gaza.

A map came with the letter, with crosses marked on it.

The quake struck at 1:29 p.m. (3:29 p.m. ET), about 70 miles from the capital, Guatemala City.

The quake's intensity, according to the USGS, was such that it was also felt in El Salvador.

The quake's epicenter was about 40 miles below the Earth's surface, the USGS said. Earthquakes centered closer to the surface generally can cause more damage.

In this case, the quake's depth and distance from shore are likely to limit the extent of the damage, Abreu said. "Had it been closer to the surface, then you would expect, certainly, more critical effects," he said.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said a Pacific-wide tsunami was not expected.

The Defense Department said in its annual report on China's military power last month that China regarded computer network operations -- attacks, defense and exploitation -- as critical to achieving "electromagnetic dominance" early in a conflict.

China's People's Liberation Army has established information warfare units to develop viruses to attack enemy computer systems and networks, the Pentagon said.

China also was investing in electronic countermeasures and defenses against electronic attack, including infrared decoys, angle reflectors and false-target generators, it said.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry rejected the U.S. report as "brutal interference" in China's internal affairs and insisted Beijing's military preparations were purely defensive.

China is expected to issue national standards for portable digital players by the end of 2007 after many were found to have defects, according to the Ministry of Information Industry (MIT).

MIT announced on June 5 that 22 of the 33 types of MP3 players it inspected in 2006 were defective. Many provided poor sound quality and had unsafe power adapters.

The findings raised concerns over the quality of China's MP3 players among overseas purchasers.

Police are asking anyone with information leading to Griffin's killer to give them a call.

Munster days and Purple Haze

Good evening kiddies and welcome to another installment of RPI news......
Today we take pause to fondly remember the passing of a beutiful addition the entertainmaent world......the electric Yvonne De Carlo......and let this blogger here stae that finding a decent American article on this was difficult so of course we revert to the old tried and true BBC network as we can't seem to keep our minds on the right thing........

Munsters star De Carlo dies at 84

Yvonne De Carlo played the vampiric wife of Herman Munster
Actress Yvonne De Carlo, best known as vampire Lily Munster in US sitcom The Munsters, has died aged 84.
"She passed away in my arms on Monday," said the star's son, Bruce Morgan, adding that his mother's health had been in decline for several years.

De Carlo's heavily made-up matriarch presided over the raucous, cobwebbed Munsters house from 1964-1966.

Although the spoof horror comedy only ran for two years, it had a long life in syndication and two films were made.

"It meant security. It gave me a new, young audience I wouldn't have had otherwise," she said when it ended.

She was the vampire mom to millions of baby boomers

Kevin Burns, friend
"It made me hot again, which I wasn't for a while."

Born Peggy Yvonne Middleton in Vancouver, Canada, De Carlo was raised in poverty and dropped out of high school.

After winning a beauty contest, she landed bit parts in Hollywood and later graduated to leading lady status.

Film studio Paramount initially signed her, it was said, because she resembled its major star, Dorothy Lamour, and executives wanted to warn Lamour she could be replaced.

Her first starring role was in 1945's Salome - Where She Danced, where she played a ballerina who became a spy in the wild west.

De Carlo starred alongside Charlton Heston in The Ten Commandments
The film was a box office success and, with her star on the rise, De Carlo won roles opposite Burt Lancaster in the film noir Criss Cross and Clark Gable in Band of Angels.

Often cast as a dancehall girl or a gun-toting sharpshooter in Westerns, she won notoriety for her hour-glass figure and striking looks.

But in 1956, she veered away from her femme fatale image to play Moses' wife in Cecil B DeMille's biblical epic The Ten Commandments.

Later, she had a key role in Stephen Sondheim's landmark Broadway musical Follies.

TV success

But for TV viewers, she will be best remembered as Lily Munster, wife to the cranially-enhanced Herman Munster.

"She was the vampire mom to millions of baby boomers," said long-time friend and television producer Kevin Burns.

"But it would be a shame if that's the only way she is remembered. She was also one of the biggest beauty queens of the '40s and '50s.

"This was one of the great glamour queens of Hollywood, one of the last ones."

De Carlo married stuntman Bob Morgan in 1955 and had two sons, Bruce and Michael, as well as several highly-publicised separations and reconciliations.

In her 1987 autobiography, she claimed to have had 22 lovers, including Howard Hughes, Burt Lancaster, Billy Wilder and an Iranian prince.

In her later years, De Carlo lived in semi-retirement in California. Her son Michael died in 1997 and she suffered a stroke the following year.

She died of natural causes on Monday at the Motion Picture & Television Fund's Retirement Home in the Los Angeles suburb of Woodland Hills.

world stranglers

Good evening children and welcome to another long delayed edition of RPI news.....
Of course I can't begin this edition without mention of the execution af Saddam Hussain........
I have to take a second out and say that even though he was guilty of many crimes against humanity and there were children who lost thier lives because of him....the execution was too quick.....too brutal and too barbaric......as a vocal advocate of global justice you have heard me many times rail off and call for vengence myself. But today it is a different ranxid who gives this report and one who openly and vocally objects to the war and many of his countries policies....as well as being very saddened by the vision of a person swinging from the gallows in this the 21st century........as I see it we have now come no farther than the 19th century....and as I always said the world grows worse before ever getting any better...
Now I'm sure some patriotic American is reading and saying for me to get with it and that I am too soft and liberal or whatever........and I say....quit thirsting for blood........the time has come for all mankind to band togeather and bring the new world we know is possible....
and instead of showing a film of the execution I will instead offer this.....from a very good friend....

life is strange enough without our leaders dragging us down paths we didnt agree to walk.....and here are a few tid-bits worth digesting with your evening meal...
Dr. Rashad Zaydan of Baghdad, Iraq, speaks at Rock Bridge High school and the University of Missouri - Columbia. She tells of the horrors of war and a hope for peace........

let us be proud Americans again......let us make an end to leading the world into ruin.......an end to war everywhere.

I do not agree that the world is doomed anyway.........good night kids.....play nice.
